The first time I met James Ouma two years ago, he was a young talented writer with a big dream of empowering the boy child. At the time all he could do was visit young boys in juvenile rehabilitation centres and talk to them, encourage them, share their meals, pray for them and do whatever he could to help them renew their ties with their families.
Today Lifesong Kenya, the organization he founded, empowers teenage boys in the juvenile rehabilitation system through coaching, mentoring, skill development and capacity building so they can exit prison with the skills and tools needed to help them reintegrate as valuable members of their families and community. You may find more about Lifesong Kenya here http://www.lifesongkenya.org/
MKAZI Magazine is happy to be associated with Lifesong Kenya initiative to get a half way house for transitioning juvenile boys. Please contribute what you can and share in your cycles.
